The Radical Idea of Speaking Your Truth

Silence. A word that is associated mostly with peace. Serenity. Bliss. A calming. But what if you are the person that is being silenced. The person that is forced to hold their words in the back of their throat until a sickness is formed, and even then you can’t complain about that sickness. Too many times have I heard that “I am emotional”, “Women are crazy”, “Speak before you are spoken to”. This system of oppression men and society has forced upon women because they, dare I say it, fear the intelligence and intuition of the opposite sex. This has been seen in history time and time again. Women could not own land, did not have the right to vote, were told our place is in the home to take care of our families as if our only value comes from our capacity to breed. Then even in childbirth we are given drugs to be silenced as to not make the practitioners uncomfortable when they hear the strength that comes from a woman’s cry as she brings life into this world . Her body a vessel of change for all of humanity.More so women of color are silenced still to this day. When the names of the black men killed are not even mentioned in the media. When the systematic oppression our government has imposed upon black and latino communities is manipulated into the mainstream media as us complaining all while there are still concentration camps in our nation. It is supposed to be one nation, under God. Not one nation under the rich white man’s thumb where we have to walk on eggshells in order to avoid hurting his fragile ego. Women of color I want to hear your voice. Speak with me.

As a child I frequently heard “silencio”, silence, as I played, or spoke or pretty much did anything. Silencio was said so much in my house it became a joke and the think I rebelled against will all my might. I say ladies, it is time to yell. It is time to be heard. It is time to expect respect and do NOT allow yourself to have less for fear of being lonely. You will not be lonely. I repeat you have a tribe of women here ready to catch you. Create your coven, your tribe, your friend circle. Whatever it is intentionally chose who is there and create a storm so big nobody will be able to not hear you. It’s okay to have a radical tongue that births the vibrations of revolution and change. Demand what you are worth and never look back.

The first step in making yourself heard is becoming part of a group of women that will challenge you and help you grow. Society has isolated us to our nuclear families taking away the power our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and great grandmothers would have bestowed upon us to heal Gaia and our souls. We are the granddaughters of the witches that they could not burn. Use your talent, whether it be gardening, art, spoken word, mathematics, science, teaching, whatever your talent is and use it as a platform to speak the truth. Be Heard! Do not stifle your throat chakra in order to keep people from being uncomfortable. Be Loud! Speak your truth. Sing and dance and scream and teach your babies to use their voice too. Because they have something to say. Teach them that their radical tongues also birth the vibration of change as our indigo children enter into this world and demand a better life. You were the vessel that brought them in. That allowed the light to enter you and bring this catalyst of change into the world. Do not silence yourself. Now is the time to speak.

I’m listening.
